What Studios Look For in an Unreal Environment Portfolio
The 30-point checklist I’d walk through with you before you send your portfolio to a studio. Run your work through it, find the gaps, and fix them before a recruiter finds them first.
- The 8-second test: how to order, trim, and lead your portfolio so the first thing a recruiter sees is your best work
- The craft checks: composition, lighting, materials, and modeling, with the specific things hiring leads notice (texel density, tiling breakup, bevels, believable scale)
- How to present a project: beauty shots, breakdowns, wireframes, material sheets, and a flythrough, laid out cleanly on ArtStation
- The technical and applying checks: using Nanite and Lumen on purpose, keeping a clean project, and tailoring your portfolio to each studio
